If your ECU label shows 06/2020 or newer, contact East Coast Supra before removing or shipping the ECU. Later ECU dates may require a clone or a different unlock process.

ECU Removal Instructions
Tools Needed
* 10mm socket or wrench
* Small flathead screwdriver or trim tool
* Painter’s tape or masking tape
* Marker
* Bubble wrap
* Anti-static bag, if available
* Small box for shipping
* Larger outer shipping box
Step 1: Park and Power Down
Park the Supra on a flat surface.
Turn the vehicle completely off. Remove the key from the vehicle area and allow the car to sit for a few minutes so all modules can go to sleep.
Avoid opening doors repeatedly once you begin, as this can wake up vehicle modules.
Step 2: Disconnect the Battery
Open the trunk and access the battery compartment.
Disconnect the negative battery terminal using a 10mm wrench.
Secure the negative battery cable so it cannot accidentally touch the battery post while you are working.
Step 3: Locate the ECU/DME
The ECU/DME is located in the engine bay near the rear/passenger-side cowl area.
Remove the plastic covers as needed to access the ECU.
Before unplugging anything, take clear photos of the ECU, connectors, and wiring orientation. These photos will help ensure everything goes back exactly the same way.
Step 4: Label the Connectors
Before disconnecting the ECU connectors, label each connector with painter’s tape.
Use simple numbering:
* Connector 1
* Connector 2
* Connector 3
* Connector 4
* Connector 5
* Connector 6
Take multiple photos from different angles before removing the ECU.
Step 5: Disconnect the ECU Connectors
Release each connector carefully.
Most ECU connectors use a locking lever or tab. Do not force the plug.
Pull only from the connector body, not from the wiring harness.
If a connector does not release easily, stop and inspect the locking tab before continuing.
Step 6: Remove the ECU
Once all connectors are unplugged, remove the ECU from its mounting bracket.
Handle the ECU carefully.
Avoid:
* Dropping the ECU
* Touching the connector pins
* Exposing the ECU to moisture
* Exposing the ECU to static electricity
* Placing the ECU near metal shavings, chemicals, or dirty work surfaces
Step 7: Verify the ECU Date
Look at the ECU label and confirm the manufacture date.
For this unlock process, the ECU should be dated before 06/2020.
If the ECU shows 06/2020 or newer, stop and contact East Coast Supra before shipping.
